Installation
Installation of
a recorder involves four main steps:
1. Physical
location and cabling
Most recorders
will typically be mounted in a rack or housed in an
enclosure in a comms or IT room. Such an environment is
ideal - clean, dust free and temperature controlled. The
recorder needs to be cabled to your telephone system. This
is usually via a Krone type block from your PBX or trunk. It
may also need ethernet cabling to your network and modem
connection.
2. Configuration
to your phone system and network
Your phone
system may comprise a multitude of different handsets and
configurations. Some could be analogue, digital, 2-way radio
or use headsets. The recorder needs to be configured so each
line is recorded properly and clearly. Variables such as
on/off hook detection and gain control need to be set for
each type of channel to ensure successful recording.
3. Setup and
testing according to your specifications
Recorder
installations vary depending on customer requirements. For
instance, you may want to restrict access to the recorder,
or you may have purchased options, such as remote replay or
fax decoding.
This step
involves setting up the recorder to ensure that it functions
as you expect.
4. System check
and testing
Once the
recorder has been connected, configured and set up is
complete, final testing and a system check need to be
completed. This includes checking recording on all lines,
power out testing and testing of main features.
Training
We offer a range
of training modules to allow you to learn how to operate
your recorder. From basic operation, right through to
administration and configuration.
For most users,
the initial training course upon installation is more than
sufficient. Initial training will cover the main user
operations, such as recording channels, searching,
replaying, saving calls and overall administration. After
completing initial training, you will be ready to use the
recorder day to day.
We also offer
training for system administrators, managers and other staff
who will be using the recorder.
